22. Support for numbers like: 10.10.10 or 12.3

Default, specification numbers are entered as numbers. But is also possible to enter them as text. If you do that then you can enter numbers like 10.10.10, 10.3 or 100A. You can change this setting per project or change the default for new projects. First we look at changing the setting per project.
Select in the menu bar: System > Project data.

Check the check box for: Support for specification numbers like: 10.10.10 or 12.3. This setting is now only activated for this project.

Now, go back to the estimate view. Select in the menu bar: System > Estimator.

As you can see. The number field is empty now. You can enter anything in the field with the restriction that it may not be longer then 10 characters.
Enter for example in the first specification row (section heading): A1.

Okay, enter values for the other number fields: A1.100, A1.200, A1.300, A1.400, A1.410, A1.420, B1, B1.100, B1.200.

When you set the setting back in the Project data view. You will see the integers again. Lets have a look at the settings view. There we see the same setting. But it operates different. Select in the menu bar: Settings > Settings.

If you check the check box for: Support for specification numbers like: 10.10.10 or 12.3. Then every new project you make will have this setting checked in the Project data view. Don't check it now, unless you want this. Go to the Project data view. Select in the menu bar: System > Project data.

Un check the check in the check box for: Support for specification numbers like: 10.10.10 or 12.3.

Go back to the estimate view and see what happened. Select in the menu bar: System > Estimator.

The integer numbers are back.
